Dance to You! at Veterans Home with Solis and Luna Arts

In March, Dance to You! had a very special performance at the Veterans Home in Paramus, New Jersey, in collaboration with Solis and Luna Arts, a student-led 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is “to better moods for those with health issues through different forms of art.” In combining live dance with live music, we were able to create a genuine and immersive dance performance experience for the veterans!

In the first segment of our performance, the dancers of Dance to You! performed various contemporary, jazz, and musical theatre numbers. In the next segment, the musicians of Solis and Luna Arts performed several classical and modern pieces.

Finally, in the last segment of our performance, the dancers of Dance to You! performed a series of classical ballet solo variations and duets, with the musicians of Solis and Luna Arts accompanying them on a variety of string and woodwind instruments. For our grand finale, the dancers performed a group piece, choreographed by Caitlin, to the Black Swan Coda music from the ballet Swan Lake, which was met with enormous applause!

Through this extensive preparation and rehearsal process, the dancers and musicians were able to learn from each other, and together, we were able to organize an incredible performance that the veterans thoroughly enjoyed!
